The Gemmological Institute of Madagascar (IGM)

The Gemmological institute of Madagascar (IGM) is an agency of the Ministry of Mines. It was established in 2003 by the Project (PRGM) on managment of mineral ressources, funded by the World Bank and the Malagasy Government.

IGM’s main partner, the Gemmological Association of London being an ATC “Accredited Teaching Center”.  It aims to promote the professionalization of the sector and thereby increase the value added by the Malagasy mining products through its services :

-Gemological Laboratory,

-sale and rental equipment gemology and lapidary and

-training : –Gemology, the theoretical and practical study of the gem-identification – Lapidary, the technique of polishing and cutting gems and – Jewellery making costume jewelry.
